Through the generosity of UCLA alumna, the late Chiyoko Doris Hoshide, Class of 1934, an endowment was established to annually recognize a UCLA professor for outstanding teaching in Asian American Studies:  The Chiyoko Doris and Toshio Hoshide Distinguished Teaching Prize in Asian American Studies.  A monetary award of $1000 will accompany the prize.

UCLA students and faculty may nominate eligible faculty from the Asian American Studies Center’s Faculty Advisory Committee and the Asian American Studies Department (AASD). The award eligibility criteria has also been revised and lecturers in the AASD can also be nominated for the award.

Please note that previous winners over the past ten years and emeritus professors are not eligible. Recipients who received the award prior to the 2013-14 academic year can be considered for the 2023-24 Award. See the faculty listing at: www.aasc.ucla.edu/fac
